Game time on the Nush!

June 25th, 2010
Let the games begin…

This week’s clients scored with a change in the weather and the first kickoff of Kings. Joe Andruzzi and buddy Cade Morgan, 11, show off their Nushagak fair catches with pride. 10 extremely competitive fishermen all caught fish, from healthy Chums to sizeable Kings.

The latest stats for the group have Joe in first place with the 20.8lb. King. Drew Anderson, 13, is a close running second with 17lb. King. After the lunch huddle, the teams will be out rushing to intercept more fish with a sweep extending well beyond the line of scrimmage.

Some officiating maybe needed through the remainder of the week as young Cade, along his teammate Marco Rivera, pulled a blitz, leaving Cade’s dad Bruce, napping on the sidelines, so they could get a head start on the fishing. Also, some of the team members are fumbling with sabotage plans for Joe, who will now be keeping strong possession of his rod and reel.

Kings have arrived!

June 21st, 2010

The King Salmon have arrived on the Nushagak River!  Fishing is starting to get exciting.  K16 Quick Fish and Mag Warts have been catching good fish.  Solid colors in orange have been working the best over the last couple of days and the Mag Warts were the ticket today.  The sun has been strong and the temps in the mid 70’s for the last two days which could have contributed to the smaller Mag Warts pulling in the fish today.  We are expecting rain and cooler weather starting tomorrow evening.  This is good news for the King Salmon fishermen.  The Kings tend to make bigger runs on the rainy days and are more aggressive on the strike.

Made it to the Nushagak

The Lodge is just about ready to open.  Kings are starting to come up the Nush in good numbers.  Got the dock in the river today and it is looking like it is going to be a great season.  Alaska Fish and Game are reporting some sockeye salmon and large numbers of chum salmon along with the kings.

Aleknagik Lake Lodge now has log siding on it and is looking great for the fly fishermen.  Took a little longer than expected to get over there and do some construction work due to a late break up of ice.  The rainbow and char fishing are predicted to be excellent over there this year

The 2010 Alaskan Adventure begins…

May 25th, 2010

Our adventure began leaving Fayetteville, Arkansas, flying to Charlotte, North Carolina, then to Phoenix, Arizona, then North to Anchorage, Alaska. We’ve been here in Eagle River, AK for the past four days and will be flying to Dillingham, AK tomorrow morning, where our adventure will really begin. Phone reception and internet connection are very limited at the lodge on the Nushagak River at this time, however, we’re working on it. We hope to be able to post about our adventure on a regular basis…so, stay tuned…..
